New Online Catholic Master's Program






Euclid University Extension College will begin its program of instruction beginning October 1, 2006. This is a distance-learning institution. Euclid offers courses for a Master's degree in three separate areas:

1) Eastern Orthodox Studies
2) Roman Catholic Studies
3) Comparative Religion Studies

Presently, Euclid University is obtaining its full acceditation from the Oregon Department of Degree Accreditation, which will be in place by October 1, 2006.

The faculty includes:

1) Reverend Laurence Cleenewerck, Ph.D., head of the Orthodox Theology Department
2) Robert A. Sungenis, Ph.D., head of the Roman Catholic Theology Department
3) Kenneth W. Harl, Ph.D. (Tulane University) associate professor of Orthodox studies
4) Amy-Jill Levine (Vanderbilt University) associate professor of Biblical Studies

The Roman Catholic Department will include courses in:

1) Church History
2) Catholic Catechism
3) Patristic Theology
4) Aquinas, Scholasticism and Medieval Theology
5) Catholic Dogma and Doctrine
6) The Papacy and Magisterium
7) Mariology
8) Catholic Soteriology
9) Catholic Mass Theology
9) General Apologetics
10) Philosophy, Logic & Critical Thinking
11) Old Testament Introduction
12) New Testament Introduction
13) Biblical Exegesis
14) Biblical Eschatology
13) Introduction to Koine Greek
14) Introduction to Biblical Hebrew
15) Introduction to Ecclesiastical Latin

-The above courses will be either 2 or 3 credit hours.

-1 semester hour equals approximately 14 hours of instruction.

-A total of 36-42 credit hours are needed in order to obtain the Master's Degree

Grading:

50% of the final grade for each course is based on a final essay
50% of the final grade for each course is based on a final exam

Class teaching material will be a combination of:

1) Lectures from the professor in essay format
2) Lectures on DVD, CD or cassette tape
3) Book and articles assigned by the professor

Prerequisites:

-Students should have already obtained a bachelor's degree in an associated discipline.

Cost:

-The cost of the courses is presently $55.00 per credit hour
